C Drive problem

January 28th, 2020

My computer works fine, I can access programs, desktop, and get on the internet (obviously)
But I can’t get onto my C Drive or my other hard drive.
When I click it in My Computer I get this error:
C:/Resycled/boot.com is not a valid Win32 application
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

Answer #1
right click on the drive and then choose explore. Now delete the autorun.inf and then try. This is caused by a virus obviously (one which cant spell)
Answer #2
try to repair ur windows.
Answer #3
Thanks, explore works, but I can’t find the file autorun.inf, I’m searching now.
^I’m going to re install Windows XP anyway cos my computer is reaaally slow, but I can’t backup my files to the hard drive because of this error >.<
Answer #4
scan your computer using anti virus….
if there is no virus found…try to format you computer…
Answer #5
explorer isn’t the only file manager around. grab a small portable one to help you make your backups, then reformat. try Explorer2 Lite Portable, it’s freeware: http://usb.smithtech.us/apps/xplorer2lite.php

I have ze answer!!!
1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on the drive with the problem.
3. Select “Explore” from the pop-up menu.
4. Go to the menu bar and select Tools->Folder Options.
5. Select the View tab.
a) Check “Show hidden files and folders’
b) Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (recommended)”
6. Click OK.
7. Find the file named “autorun.inf” file in the root of each infected drive.
8. Delete the file.
9. Delete the “resycled” system folder as well. I think, this is the source of the infection. Or you could name it as the virus nest.
10. Go to the Desktop and empty the Recycle Bin. It’s a very important step to prevent the infection coming back!
10. Reboot.
11. Hopefully this should solve your problem, remember to change the folder options back.

Answer #7
my guess is that the problem is with file associations for drives and/or folders. if Ha269’s instructions don’t help, grab the first 3 reg files listed under Navigation Fix from the page below and run them. then do a full scan of your system with a good AV! http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-xp-2000/49152-restore-your-file-folder-drive-associations.html
Answer #8
you can try this also
Open a new text document and save it as desktop.ini (save it somewhere in your desktop inside a folder) then copy the file and paste it to the affected drive.
…this will refresh your desktop.ini which has been modified by a worm/virus back to normal…
*and upgrade your antivirus and do a full system scan
Answer #9
the error that you get… just type that in your google search engine.. I believe that hundreds of friends got that sh*t.. Then try searching and querying

Thanks very much, that did it! And yes, I did have a virus, but I thought I’d removed it, maybe some damage hadn’t been undone.
