Also my laptop is lenovo z585. Does it have sata 3 or 2? Its on sale that is why I am asking.

What is a sata 300? http://www.lenovo.com/shop/emea/content/pdf/IdeaPad/ZSeries/en/ideapad-z585-datasheet.pdf
300 = SATA2. But I wouldn’t be overly concerned about it if I were you.
SATA3 is backward compatible, And do remember that the sequential read/write speeds only apply when you read/write very large files! So don’t over-think it. What makes SSDs faster than HDDs is primarily the lower access time.

So is it worth it for me to get that SSD?

It will still be worthwhile getting an SSD although you wont see the full potential it will still be a lot faster than a HDD, I personally use Samsung, but do some googling as there are other good SSD’s out there, look at some benchmarks, read some reviews.
Why such a small SSD for a lappy, unless you don’t get much pocket money.
The 960 GB’s are relatively inexpensive here in the UK, I’ve just put 2 dozen into a clients lappies ( a local Government Dept).
Small SSD’s are fine for a desktop as you can use storage drives, a lappie with 120 GB is a waste of money, where are you going to store anything ?

Yeah – “modular” drives have been around with Dell for at least 10 – 15 years with their old Inspirons, I’ve got an 8600 that has a modular battery/ODD/HDD, I even stuck an SSD in it It’s cool due to the WUXGA display even though it’s 10 years old or so now..
If you can do without the ODD, say virtually mounting the images then that would be fine I guess. I have not seen those here in the UK, will check them out.
I still say the SSD you are looking at is too small – get a 240GB at least, they are near enough the same price as a 128 here in UK.
Yup – we have them here… http://www.amazon.co.uk/12-7mm-Optical-Second-CD-ROM-laptop/dp/B00GJ8RBP4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388475487
Went for the 120GB . Like I said I am going going to put windows 8 on there+mozilla firefox and rest of my 1tb HDD that is already in the computer which I am going to move to my cd/dvd rw slot.
