Building New Gaming Pc Rig
April 19th, 2018
Please let me know if its ok to play all latest games =)
Updated Config :
Price in usd : $ 725.65
Is the config good enough to play the latest games?
is it worth the price for the configuration im looking for?
It’s OK. Going one step forward (Core i7, Radeon HD 5850-5870) would add a few hundred bucks on the final price.
Looks good but don’t go skimping on the PSU! A cheap PSU can easily cause instability
as well as fry your components. Better go with Antec Earthwatts 650w or Corsair TX 650w.

Absolutely but if you can afford yourself spending a little
more replace the GFX with GTX 460 256 bit.
Answer #3
Get the CORE I7 930 2.8GHZ 8MB CACHE instead.

Coolermaster is not a quality PSU brand! Most of
their PSUs are of bad quality (Especially the extreme power plus series)

It’s not any better then the 5770 so stick with it.
Answer #6
The ‘Corsair TX 650w’ is quite good and not too expensive.
The GTX 260 is better than the HD 5770, but only by a tiny bit.
For that tiny bit it draws more power and runs hotter.
Answer #7
Who told you that?
Answer #8
You only made my point, ’cause a Radeon HD 4870 outperforms a HD 5770.
Perhaps you should read this:
And don’t tell me that “Tom’s Hardware” is not trust-worthy. Anyway, there are others, saying the same thing.
I’m not trying to pass myself as a big expert, but I know how to “google” and read.
Answer #9
I still say he should stick with the 5770,The 260 is slightly better
but the 5770 is more future proof (DX11)
Answer #10
What if i get the XFX ATI HD5770 850M 1GB DDR5 then later when i have saved up some money i get another one and crossfire it ? Whats your opinions?
Answer #11
The motherboard you picked does not even support Crossfire!
In fact no H55 ones do,You’d have to get a P55 one for that.
IMO CF is overrated,Just upgrade your card every 6 months/year
Answer #12
any good P55 mobo then? Here is the price list (pdf) in my country. Link :
My budget is round 20 – 25 k ( The pricelist is vat inc.)
is the MSI P55-CD53 i3/i5 (LGA1156) good enough? I dont mind spending a lil more cause my config for the moment is round ~ 22 k
Answer #13
Assuming you buy a CF capable mobo, it is a viable option if you are tight on budget. Multi-GPU scaling (especially SLI) have improved a lot). However buying a stronger GPU (i.e. GTX 460) in the first place would be more preferable.
Answer #14
well a CF capable mobo would be an advantage to me budget wise for the moment… need help in choosing a different mobo.Is msi mobo any good?
Here is one i found :
MSI P55-GD55
Answer #15
You should search for a MB that has 2 “PCIe 2.0 x16” slots.
That MSI board has only one.
Answer #16
It does have 2 x PCI-Ex16 in the specification tab.
Answer #17
In the specs it says:”PCI-Ex16: 2″ and then “PCI-E Gen: Gen2 (1×16), Gen1 (1×4)”.
So you have two “PCIe 2.0 x16”, or one “PCIe 2.0 x16” and one “PCIe 1.0 x4” ?
I see now, in the picture (sorry I didn’t look earlier), that the board is marked with “Dual PCI-E 2.0 Gaming Design” and has 2 PCIe x16 slots.
So I guess the first variant applies.
Answer #18
Thanks for your help and all of you! really apreciate it =)
Now the other issue is choosing the psu. I could only find CORSAIR MODULAR HX 650W PSU which is quite expensive. Any other good brand? is 650 W largely enough?
Answer #19
Like first suggested, a Corsair TX 650w would be just fine.
650w is enough and the TX is cheaper than the HX, mainly because is not modular. I’m planning to buy this exact 650w CorsairTX model myself, in the next few weeks.
IMO Seasonic, Corsair and Antec are the most trust-worthy PSUs manufacturers (some may contradict me, of course ).
Search for a 650w PSU made by one of them that’ll fit your budget. After you settle on one model, search for a review on the web, see some test results and what others think about it.
P.S. You can do with less than 650w if you buy an efficient PSU, but a 650w one will leave room for some upgrades on the CPU and/or gfx card, in the future.
Another point for Corsair: they offer a 5 year-warranty service for their PSUs.
Answer #20
The Corsair CMPSU-650TX although still pretty good is pretty old and is not on par with today’s PSUs for features and price.
Some of the best 650W PSUs currently available under $100 are
All of them are fully modular with the exception of the Antec TP-650 which is semi modular. Looking at brand names are stupid. Even Antec and Corsair make mediocre PSUs. If I were you I would try and get the TP-650.
Also, for your information that motherboard does have two PCI-E x16 slots but the bottom one is running at x4 (x16/4x). It wouldn’t probably mean much for a HD 5770 Crossfire or GTX 460 SLI. Around 5% performance loss at best compared to full 16x/16x or 8x/8x.

I agree, choosing based only on brand name is stupid. That’s why you have to search for some reviews before you buy. There are some bad Corsair and Antec PSUs (don’t know about Seasonic), no question about it.
But the chances of getting a bad PSU made by these guys are pretty low, compared to other manufacturers.
After all, between the 3 options you gave, you recommended the semi-modular one. Why? Because it’s an Antec one?
Answer #22
Nope not because it’s Antec. I recommended it because it’s from the new TruePower New product line and they absolutely kick ass in performance. Check out JonnyGURUs review of the 750W model. Only the cables you’d always use are hardwired anyway like the ATX24 and EPS12v so I don’t see a major problem with it
Answer #23
kind of confused for the moment, which is better? intel i5 760 or the amd phenom II x4 965? is amd any good? i know i have to change the board but still it ends up cheaper and i can spend more money on the graphic card
Is the amd any good in performance and gaming?
Answer #24
Not really. The i5 is clock for clock a lot faster than even the Phenom x6
Answer #25
Thanks D r e a M! This certainly clear my mind on what processor to choose.
After checking some reviews on the net, I decided to change a lil of my configuration, Is it any good and worth the price i’m paying for?
Answer #26
I’m considering building a new gaming rig in the near future, but looking at an AMD Athlon II X6 instead of Core i7. Better performance and cheaper.

For what it’s worth I have a 750TX and it has served me well for a couple of years but the first one I received was DOA and had to RMA it. That’s what warranty and RMA are for. After all, between the 3 options you gave, you recommended the semi-modular one. Why? Because it's an Antec one?
