AVG Anti-Virus Black Screen

AVG has done an update and asks me to restart the computer to complete the update. But when it has restarted i just get a black screen and nothing happens.
I can still see my cursor and am able to open my task manager. In my task manager, only a few processes are running, and no applications. When I try to restart or shut down my computer it just freezes while shutting down so i have to shut it down manually..
I had to delete AVG in Safe Mode to let my computer work again, but I installed AVG again and I had the same problem over again :/
Can anyone help me with this? Or do you think I should take another Anti-Virus? If so; wich one?
PS: I’m using Vista
yeah AVG isnt very good for an AV, i suggest Norton, kapersky, Bitdefender etc
