DVD Drive problem

August 8th, 2016

The DVD drive in my laptop has been giving some troubles for a while. At the beginning everything was okay. But for the last 1 month the drive had been reading the disks rather slowly. I mean, when I put a dvd inside the drive the drive takes a lot of tym to detect the disk inside almost 36s anf after dat everything is normal. And now, for the last 3 days the drive is not reading anything. When I put the dvd inside the drive it stutters for a while making a few noises trying to read, but fails to read at all. After 3 or 4 mins all noises stop and the disk inside stops spinning.
Please help me a.s.a.p.
Thank you in advance.

Your DVD drive may be faulty, how old is it? Try updating your drivers, if that doesn’t work it is most likely a hardware issue.

think you may have to get a new one!!!!

It is just 4 months old

Re Flash the firmware on the drive and or boot from a disc at BIOS ie OS Disc and see how long it takes it generally takes a few minutes to boot to the config menu if it takes much longer you know its a fault drive cause youll be eliminate OS Drivers/settings
Answer #5
The drive is not reading any disk. So, it won’t make any difference if I insert an OS disk

Try once of those DVD drive cleaners… its a disk with a small brush on it to clean the lens when it rotates… might work.
Sounds like your drive is just croakin tho!
