Xbox 360 – Most Common Questions for Modding/flashing

September 21st, 2013

hello,
1- i heard that some special programs can burn xbox games to DVD DL without having the need mod or flash anything (xbox retail). is this possible?
2- if -1- is false do i need to make hardware modifications? or just flashing is enough?
3- if i must do hardware mod what is the best chip i must use (url and description please)?
4- If -3- is true, will the chip need to be replaced in future updates of xbox 360?
More questions:
5- When new update comes from microsoft, should i apply it? or what is the process after in case i have a modded version
6- Does all games work? i heard that new games use XGD3, does the process change?
hope to have answer for those questions as most people new will ask the exact same ones.

flashing is enough

if you want to play games from a HDD, you need to do a JTAG/Reset Glitch Hack or look at purchasing something like an xk3y

no

never apply the update until it is confirmed safe (a good place to look is www.c4evaspeaks.com)

XGD3 games need to be burned using a special burner and burner firmware, again check the link above for more details.

i haven’t seen many chipped xbox360s, but having a chip is the old school way and allows you to more features, such as running custom applications, modifying firmware will only allow you to play backup games, nothing else

Be warned, there is no longer “just flashing” unless you can get an old xbox.
Most drives now require the MRA hack or soldering a premade board to the drive. So be ready to solder.

I don’t have experience in the slim version. I recommend you read on Jungleflasher manual, it is the bible of Xbox flashing. Find out what model of drive you have in your Xbox slim using the Jungleflasher manual. Find out what you need to do with the drive reading the Jungleflasher manual or google it. Good luck, I have never tried flashing a Xbox slim myself.
Last warning, unless you are sure of your soldering skills, want to risk an Xbox slim, don’t do it. Get a professional to flash it then. But if you get a professional to do it, you still need to get updated on when Microsoft is updating stuff, so you don’t get banned. c4evaspeaks.com is the place you should check frequently after you get it flashed. If being unbanned is important to you of course.

not a big problem in soldering, but i am afraid to attach a chip that might not be compatible. looking on ebay they give TONZ of versions. some also slim version does not fit the chip!
