Modding xbox 360 questions

September 23rd, 2013

i decided to buy xbox 360 on black friday for $200. you guessed it i have very limited budget and i can not afford to buy games that are $40+. i heard that i have to mod my xbox in order to play games uploaded here.
my question is: how i can mod my xbox? software or hardware mod? Can the mod be compatible for all games or just few? what do u recommend guys.
edit: i found many sites offering mods to edit the game it self, like extra life, screenshots and so many more.. those comes last, i just want to play games uploaded here..
thanks to all

First off, M$ is in the middle of a new dashboard update so you’ll need to hold off until it’s complete and new LT firmware comes out.
These are all site you can check for more info on:
http://www.xboxscene.com
http://xbox360iso.com
http://team-xecuter.com
http://www.ixtreme.net/
http://c4evaspeaks.com/

The last one is the best resource for keeping up to date with the status of current mods and warnings.
The mod is good for all games….BUT with the new mod that we’re all waiting for, all games will need to be backed up again as they’re using a whole new system for passing stealth checks.
So, be patient, read at least the c4eva site, find a reputable modder, and have fun when it’s done

heres a pm i got about 360 modding.
Swords To Plowshares replied: I've never done a J-tag before as I would leave it to the guys that do it allot.
Its just too much hassle, soldering, dumping the NAND and reprogramming a separate NAND chip.
I just use the Jungleflasher guide:
http://hotfile.com/dl/129074413/6f8714b/jftut1.4.4.rar.html
http://www.jungleflasher.net/downloads.html
Website for drive firmwares (in the iXtreme LT Lite Touch Download section):
http://www.ixtreme.net/
That is only for drive flashing which is the mod I do as it doesn't cost much for most of the parts required and it is somewhat easy.
The first part is opening the Xbox 360 which you need to see this:
http://www.consolezombie.com/XBOX360/Xbox-360-Disassembly-Tutorial.html
The bare minimal stuff you need is a Torx 10 (T10) screw driver a motherboard with SATA and power for the drive (you can use your 360) and a small flat head screwdriver (3mm approx)
I usually buy the Torx screwdrivers from my local electronics shop as its fairly cheap, around $7 a set.
But don't buy them individually as its good to have a set, I've seen my PS3 slim to even use a Torx for 4 of its screws.
I don't use any guides out there as they could be outdated, you can be sure that the JF guide is constantly being updated.
The first step is finding out what drive you have and which firmware revision.
You've got to open up the console, some earlier Xbox 360's are easy to predict if you require additional components.
Xbox live is no good if your going to do any console mod whatsoever.
If your using a older console, not the Xbox 360 S:
But be sure to do the X-clamp fix as it makes your console last longer, along with the fan voltmod.
I've never done any Xbox 360 S's, so I didn't provide the opening info on that.
So the basic idea of this drive flashing is:
1. Dump the firmware on the drive to extract the drive key or sometimes its the key itself.
2. Inject the dumped key into the target iXtreme firmware which is the same for your drive and stock firmware revision.
3. Erase the stock drive's firmware to flash in the desired patched firmware.
4. Test with a game.
Right now the website for iXtreme seems to be a google cache or do you require registering, I'm not sure.

just bring your xbox to someone in your city that mods them.
Answer #6
Just download the jungle flasher guide the guy above posted and read through it. It is a noobs guide on how to flash your 360. Once flashed you should get yourself a ihas burner so you can burn the newer games. And yes once your xbox is flashed you can play all games. Also the only program you need to burn games is imgburn. and you burn them to dual layer dvds
