Windows Experience Index RAM score dropped from 7.3 to 5.5!

February 9th, 2020

So, for the past few days my pc has been running slower compared to normal and I’ve had no ideia why. Today, I went into Performance Information and Tools and, to my surprise, it said new hardware had been detected (I have never changed my pc’s hardware) and that I should run the Windows Experience Index evaluation again (something I sometimes do and that has kept the same scores ever since buying the pc). To my surprise, my RAM score fell from the previous score of 7.3 to 5.5!
Does anyone know what might be behind this? I suppose whatever is causing this is also the reason my pc has been slower lately.
Any help would be highly appreciated System specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz (Score 7.3)
4GB RAM (Score 7.3)
NVIDIA Geforce GTS 250 (Score 7.0)
Windows 7 64-bit

Did you check to see if one of the ram stick went dead? Actually check to see how many ram you got running atm?
Answer #2
Using CPU-Z, go to the memory tab.
It should tell you the total memory ….and if you have 2 (or 4) matched sticks of ram it should say Chan#………Dual.
The DRAM frequency should be half of what your sticks really are…eg 800MHz would be listed for a 1600MHz stick.(ram is double data rate).

If you are not sure, put up a screenshot of the memory window and a couple of the SPD windows showing your sticks.

Run memtest and see if any errors pop up. If any do, you’re going to need new ram.

What hardware received the 5.5? EI score is based on lowest entry… why did you not post that?
