Windows 10 safe to upgrade or wait a bit more?

August 1st, 2016

Is Windows 10 “safe” and recommended to upgrade to right now for my computer setup? If not, I have no problem waiting another couple of months. Thank you!
My system: Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Intel Core i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz 8.0 GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 4600

Do a backup image to your Windows 8 partition..
Then try Windows 10…If you have second thoughts you can always revert to Windows 8..
By the why..It’s a good idea to update to Windows 8.1

I guess I am more curious about is it worth it to upgrade to Windows 10 now. Or should I wait a bit longer for the bugs to get worked out?
Answer #3
I can only tell you that I’m still waiting too..Not ready to dive in yet..
Answer #4
Good to know! I think I will hold off as well. Would you mind posting here if you update anytime soon?
Answer #5
Afaik he has to upgrade to 8.1 first, unless i’m mistaken there is no direct upgrade path from 8 to 10
Answer #6
microsoft said they will push out same “spy” updates to win7 and 8/8.1 soon enough, so after that point might as well be on win 10 for extra few % better preformance and then shut them down with few security 3rd party apps

win 10 is fine to update to.
I never upgraded – i just pirated the win 10 iso from
Ive come from win 7 64bit and not regretted it.
Ive not found any apps as yet that dont work and all my drivers have installed fine.
Win 10 boot up times are well quick and id say 10-15 secs from reset (using ssd drive)
I use ESET as virus and firewall apps – and installed chrome as my browser Only downside to win10 is the amount of spying that microsoft do on the user.
As a pirate i should worry about these things – but honestly i dont care.
If they got time to spy on me or store info on me then good on them.
If u find once u upgraded and u need drivers and dont have them to hand just install drive for life.
It installs latest drivers for u.

End of day – only u can make the choice whether to upgrade. For me – it was a good choice.

Yes, it’s “safe” to do an upgrade.
Personally, I think it’s a great OS.

it is totally irrational and illogical to update from something which have no problems to a thing full of problems , it even becomes more interesting when the system full of problems have “currently” 0 benefit over the other my suggestion is , do not update to win 10 until you find a reasonable answers to “why i m upgrading and what will be my benefits” or you can upgrade to join the flock and become one of the people who starts topic on here helpdesk or googling about your problems.

How come there is no Windows 9.0 ????? Why skipped??? Windows 8 and 10 are same to me. !!
Answer #11
I will only upgrade to WIN 10 when I am forced to. My Win 7 works perfectly and does everything I need.

I can honestly say that windows 10 is a gigantic mess for the PC user. It is that simple. The USB drivers have issues, wireless issues, desktop issues, internet connection issues, just so on and so on. They are doing all they can to push the PC user out of existence. The Beta of 10 was awesome, now it is just another touchscreen, table or phone os that offers nothing new from 8 or 8.1 other than a start screen which we had anyway. I will say there is a TON more spying going on now with 10 and it is awful.
I am going back to 7 and staying there.

Why no windows 9. That was in the news a long time ago. Basically 1 reason of it was code. In order for the OS to be “built” quicker, they often use code from previous times. They wanted to avoid issues in WinX with possible win95,98 code. If you look there’s a 9 in there too Another one had something to do with the win8 debacle that they decided to jump a version.

Win10 upgrade is sitting in my taskbar but I’ll wait 3-6 months before installing it. I’ll see how it shakes out first
Answer #16
I figured it couldn’t be any worse then windows 8. I installed it and have had zero problems. One thing i was happy about was Max Payne 3. I could never get it to open in windows 8 no matter what i did. Spent more time troubleshooting then playing it. But windows 10 had no issues running the game. I think it’s a good move as long as you have some know how with your computer. It’s really up to you.

Its totally up to you.I have 2 pc, one is using win 10 pro on my old Athlon test pc(Not clean install.Install over original win 7 Ultimate though),works smoothly with built in graphics(U can say AGP [lol]) 256 MB,4 GB DDR2 RAM.On the other hand,My friends New pc Cor i5(3rd gen), 160 GB SSD,8 GB DDR3 Ram,nVidia graphics, win 7(Ultimate,reserved win 10 before) etc,he did a clean install & facing some issue.Funny isn’t it ? So,My opinion is test it,Before that, backup your current OS using good image Back up software. If you don’t like then revert back previous OS.Win 10 has some issue and it is wise to take it permanently after 6 month or a year(This is totally my personal opinion).BTW,my brothers have also facing some issue,i will ask him tomorrow, about the problem.
