Is the update for IE8 safe to un-genuine windows user?

i wanted to update my IE7 to IE8
i downloaded the IE8(update installation) for vista
but im using un-genuine vista, if i update it, will i get the non genuine windows notice….
i want my windows to be safe….
anyone tried and very sure?
