Will Ps3 games work on ps4 like ps2 games worked on ps3 ?

Does anyone have an idea if ps3 games will work on ps4 or if there will be a possible way to make them work on it . Since i may buy ps4 and i have a lot of good games for ps3. Also what should i go for playstation 4 or Xbox 1 ?

ps2 games don’t work on ps3. backwards compatibility was only available on the first ps3 models (phat)

No. It was confirmed a long time ago that Ps4 won’t be backward compatible what so ever. Because of Sony’s dumb selfish logic.

and ps4 is a high end computer anyway, better than most pc’s people have in their bedrooms.
ot: sorry mate, it wont play ps3. but most likely with a remade ps3 download.
pc does not have some good games for example red dead redemption and the cost for higher end pc is more than buying a ps4 besides i have an alienware which is good enough
Yeah i think I read somewhere that it wont play PS3 games or PS2, you might be able to play em by buying them from the PS Store but not sure though.
The only options, considering the change in architecture, are either emulating PS1/PS2 and porting PS3 titles to x86 or having the Gakai service stream pre-processed PS3 games…which is not gonna happen anytime soon.

I’m doing the same, the PS3 trade in price is shocking, I would rather keep it and play games that wont be released on PS4.

I’ve heard rumors that Sony will add some sort of PS3 game streaming over the cloud, but that you’ll need to buy your games again (I can’t remember the source). I do know that they bought Gaikai, which is for streaming games and stuff over the cloud, so chances are it will be added at some point. But it’s only speculation for now.
