Why HD mkv are +1GB while BoB HD mkv = 300MB?
July 23rd, 2013
Since last year I switched from Xvid SD to mkv HD 720p. The improvement in quality id very noticeable. However, I prefer moderate file size as I use to watch TV shows and don’t really need the absolute best HD quality.
For TV shows of 45 minutes, in HD 720p, those which are packaged/released by a group named BoB, the file size is usually 300MB. While HD releases made by other groups are usually bigger than 1 GB per show.
Can you please explain the technical differences that motivate the releasers to package different sizes (300MB vs +1GB )?
And more importantly, what is wrong with a HD 720p 45 minutes show at 300MB? Because it looks like BoB is the only one who adopts this file size.
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

no reason why other can’t, they just don’t
I like the 300mb encodes as well

on larger screens the diff is more apparent than on smaller screens
and those 1gb plus encodes may also be 1080 encodes
You Say that is True, Most of the Anime Releases and some TV Show releases are so big in size because of format which they have been encoded which is .ts and the bitrate is very high which causes them to have big sizes.Audio quality and Video resolution also effect on video sizes but now a days, Many of the Anime Encoder like msaadn,Human Torch,BoB and me etc they transcode the video and decrease the bitrate , Video res, audio format in such a way that they reach their specific size goal !! If you wanna know More Google is your friend or pm me .
Sorry if you cannot understand my language actually I am an Indian so my English is Little bit Poor !!

You answered it yourself. You dont need anything better than 300mb size and thats ok.
The larger size files have better video/audio encoding therefore better quality.
Many people dont care about HD quality, they just want to download it quickly. That’s why you can find many small rips which are very popular because you can download them in minutes.
Try playing small 720p rip and other one that is 5GB and more on a large screen. There is a huge difference in quality but somebody cares and somebody doesnt.
Thanks gentlemen for your quick answer. I assumed bigger file size = better quality but never attempted to download a +1GB TV episode. Because the 300 MB 720p HD look perfectly satisfactory to me so I just stay there as the download is more convenient.
