There is no best when it comes to protection, there are some choices and your preferences. Since you want something light, try Avira AntiVir Personal + Comodo Firewall.
You can go for Nod32 or Norton Internet Security 2009, too. Try and see which one you’ll like better.
Answer #5
NOD32

For a computer with alot of ram then you can do extreme from zone alarm

Kaspersky Internet Security, I have had others such as norton 360 and CA anti virus but Kaspersky has been the better by far. Good way to keep the cost down if you want to purchase, by a three user subscription and spilt the cost with a friend.
Answer #15
If you seek about a good software protection from paying version you should’nt use an cracked anti-virus , Kaspersky , Nod , norton these softwares was good even cracked version (not purchased) but now these programs have become ineffective ( I think the patch damage the anti-virus and let makes you believe that you are protected and I believe that this action was voluntary on the part of the company of the anti-virus for forcing you to buy their product)
I suggest you from the paying version *The anti-virus :
1-Avira premium security suite
2-Kaspesky Internet security
3-Nod 32
*anti-spyware
1-webroot spysweeper
2-Spyware doctor
*Fire wall
1-Zone alarm pro (it’s the best)
N.B : the rootkit is Integrated in all version of anti-virus I suggest you about the Free version:
*Anti-virus
1-Avira free
2-Avast (is very good if you add an anti-spyware and firewall)
3-AVG free
*Anti-spyware
1-Spyware terminator
2-malwarebytes anti-malware
*Firewall
1-Zone alrm (the only good in the free version)
*Anti-rootkit
1-AVG ani-rootkit (I don’t tested it yet but It seems very good !)
I hope that I helped you

Answer #22
ESET Smart Secuity
Answer #23
Kasperesky, but its a bit annoying at times, and also keys keep on getting blacklisted, and slow down the system.
The other choice is NOD32. You can get updated keys everyday.. from nod321.com and its light, and good on the system
Answer #24
Thank You Very Much Everyone
Answer #25
Kaspersky Internet Security. Buy it.
Answer #26
Bit Defender FTW
Answer #27
Kaspersky sucks! Every time you use a program it asks like a ‘~ censored ~: “Do you want to allow access?” It really slows down your work when you have to click something all the time.
I personally use Avira and it works great. Really light, and has a great find rate. I suggest you download this one, it’s free to boot!
Answer #28
eset is damn light on pc & also to recent virus/trojans, i dont trust it it gave me an unprotected system\\good for those who have low sys spec & usefew hrs in internet.
bit defender total security is very good ,i love it,very light ,crackable/patchable, high detection & removal rating.
But last week some trojan that can reproduce itself even the drive is formatted caught my pc.i am a broadband user my pc is online atleast 10 hrs a day.that trojan is dead after format untill connected to net bdis-detects it removes it but the trojan does changes some codes in all the exe s in windows & prog files & bdis deletes them & i had to format the system to get a working back.
i have used kav6 long time was love with it but kav7 slows my system alot so i moved to eset.after last week i decided to try kis2009 & it removed the trojan & some win files but repaired some like taskmanager exe & others.then after a complete update i scanned the system took long time got 51 trojan infected files & repaired almost all of them/////////that shocked me that it repaired all of it.
its almost three days now no virus i checked it with oter antiviruses.
///////avira has the best detection rates just adjust the settings to make it comfortable,i always keep it installed is as secondary antivirus but it lacks some features to use it as primary security software//////////////

People need to start searching, there are ton of this threads. It all comes down to freeware being the best.
Avira Antivir Personal + Comodo Firewall + SuperAntiSpyware + Malwarebytes = Best freeware security combo. If you dont believe me try them, google information. They made Google search engine for a reason.
