What if we dont OVERCLOCK – BUT DOWNCLOCK !
January 26th, 2020
Would i see a big difference in performance???
Or is there even such thing as downclocking??
Or is it just stupid and pointless??
i think if you underclocked your cpu, it’d be slow, and life expectancy would be longer but you’d save more power but it’d spike back up to 3.16ghz every now and then..

id say the same.. but its not really worth it i dont think as your computer is built to run at that speed.. plus you have all the new games demanding more power
You would probably save some money on your electricity bills.
its pointless as the equipment is covered by a warrenty at stock speeds, so until it comes out of warrenty underclocking is pointless…
yes there is such a thing as underclocking! I dont know about perfermance, but if you are used to a 3.16Ghz i would guess so…
1. Maybe, but the processor is build for the speed it’s running, so it shouldn’t make much of a difference.
2. Yes you probably would.
3. Yes there is, never done it myself though, I’ve only overclocked.
4. Both
haha thxn alot guys… all great `helpful` answers
Moving to Helpdesk.
at stock every cpu should last 10 years so I would overclock since in 10 years cpu will upgrade
of you underclock im sure you wouldnt need to put fan so loud.
1. In theory it will increase the life length. But i wouldn’t do that. 2. Depends on the applications you run.
It isn’t stupid. I underclock my 8800gt when im not playing games, so i can lower the temperature maybe 5 or 10 degrees. when im going to play i put the clocks right back as they originally came.
But if its processor, tbh I would just leave it as it is =)
Sometimes it does damage it if you under clock it too much. But that is not from experience just from stuff I read every now and then.
i wouldent advise it but you can try
