Answer #5
You shut down your pc, boot it in safe mode.
Then you install(&update?) your antivirus, run a scan. Ofcourse delete the files, and reboot in the normal mode again..
Remember, safe mode.. Ps; code your link above my post..
Answer #6
Try Avira Premium Security Suite ( <- Make sure it’s that, and not Avira AntiVir. ) and get a free key at
http://www.avira.com/en/evaluate/vnu.php
It’s says it’s trial, for 3 months, but the program runs normally without any advice about Trial and no limited functions, just create a new key every 3 months
So, install it, reboot on Safe mode WITH networking and update. When you know your AVPSS is completely updated, restart and reboot on Safe Mode WITHOUT Networking ( to avoid a haxx0r to shutdown your pc or the antivirus ), then run a full system scan, delete any found files, of course.
And another thing – Have your FORMATTED your HD or just reinstalled the O.S.? Do you have another partition? Maybe that’s partition is infected, not the main O.S.
If you have only one partition/hd, and you FORMATTED it, Rofl idk what it could be, maybe a software you’re installing it’s reinstalling it, remember Adwares installs spywares and viruses on your computer.
Hope i helped, mate
Answer #7
Easiest way is to just download hijack this and post a log, or just delete things that look unnessasary. DO RESEARCH BEFORE KILLING PROCESSES / START UP programs. Then you know for sure
Answer #8
Oh yea btw, you can use “msconfig” on the ‘RUN’, look for startup programs and disable any weird/strange/not use programs you see there, look in ‘Services’ and tick ‘Hide all microsoft services’ and disable the ones you think it’s strange or suspicious

well mate, i have heard that a virus could get into the bios, can any support this statement?
IF that happens i think you have to get your bios flashed or something, that is what i was told, i could be worng, try taking it to your near by computer store and have it bench tested, that will get it working for you
Answer #14
did u reformat as well?
Answer #15
yeah, did u reformat? do that instead of reinstall OS
This what I usually use
Kaspersky Internet Security
SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
HijackThis
Answer #16
If you do a clean install which means delete all partitions and reinstall after that. That should clear any and all problems if you do it right.
Answer #17
I don’t get it, how did Firefox run after a format? it usually doesn’t even exist…
Make sure the CD you have doesn’t include any malicious files from the beginning, then do a full format to all partitions and then make a 100% clean install, after you hook up the modem go directly to and get some Antivirus protection, then update Windows XP with all the updates availible
Answer #18
try formatting with a different CD
Answer #19
Download new versions of Windows XP CD here, at if possible ( always check the posts – some have viruses ‘built-in’ ), and FORMAT your computer, DO NOT select on the install ‘Keep previous O.S.’ or something, it will just replace it and the virus will keep installed. Backup your important data to another computer ( Make sure this one got a decent antivirus and shut his internet ), also make sure your ‘important data’ dont have viruses too
Then format it. To be sure you formatted it, after installing the O.S., a 100GB HD ( by example ) would show: 98,7GB Free of 100GB. Then you’re done.
I doubt the virus installed on the BIOS since idk if the BIOS can install softwares on the Machine. Also check ‘inside’ your BIOS ( press Del ( most of computers ) after it do the ‘beep’, or just keep pressing when you turn your pc on ) and look for ‘Boot Sector Virus Protection’ and enable it. If it do have a virus, it’ll keep beeping like mad, so you’re sure it got a virus, and you must flash your BIOS. That’s a pretty dangerous job since a bad flash can lead to a non working computer, so take your PC to the nearest computer shop and tell them to update the BIOS. If something go wrong, its their responsibility, and they may give u a new Motherboard ( if they give make sure its like yours, or better. Do not accept worse ).
The first thing after all is FORMAT the PC. Do NOT install any programs after formatting and installing the OS, do NOT even install a antivirus solution, and disconnect from the internet. Fiddle around and let it on for some time, then check for any virus sight. If you DID format your HD and you did that i said above, to not install anything and the virus shows up, Flash the bios ( like i said before, on a computer shop. )
in this new os also firefox automatically started what can i do now
That’s the main reason i think its not working. Windows XP dont come with Firefox. You’re not doing it right, you must format it instead or replace the O.S.
To format its the option that got something written ‘NTFS’ or ‘FAT32’ ( ntfs ftw, faster and safer ). Don’t select the ‘Fast’ one, its the fast, but worst.
On a extra note, Formatting the machine will delete ANY data on it. Games, Photos, anything. Nothing will be left behind and all data deleted after a format is not recoverable. So backup any important data. ( Not by putting in a folder called ‘backup’ in the drive that will be formatted, but in another computer. )
Also if you got another partition ( One single HD, but you can put data on ‘C:’ and ‘D:’, also ‘D:’ is a drive, not CD/DVD ) make sure this one isnt infected too or else anything we do will be worthless.
Any removable devices can be installing this virus too.. DVD’s, Pen Drives, Diskettes, The own XP installation disk ( if you trust on this disk, use it. ).
If you got a ‘fixed pendrive’ ( a pendrive that keeps connected to the computer all the time ), its 90% sure it got virus too. Format it too. If it’s not a ‘fixed pendrive’, it might have virus, a Virus scan on him is a good idea.
Hope i helped
Do a format dude.
Answer #20
Yes…Do like says…
Make sure your bios is set so that your CD Rom drive is the first boot device…Then insert the windows disk and then power down your PC completely (disconnect the power for a while to be sure)..THen start up and it should boot up straight from the boot disk….When it starts booting, it will say press any key, do that or it will revert to your hard drive and boot from there, which of course you don’t want……Then you can follow the instructions on the disk and do the format…Good luck and let us know if you are not sure

Or press F11, that is in most of motherboards, the BOOT Menu, then select the CD/DVD Drive. You’ll need to boot from the HD just after the installer copy the files to the HD
