Video card +HDMI + 5.1 audio SOLVED

I’m looking for a pci express video card with HDMI and at least 5.1 audio. Ideally under 100 bucks.

HDMI already has sound. Any card nowadays ships with HDMI. What’s the rest of your specs?

I have an Asus P5KPL-CM motherboard and I want to pipe the video AND audio through
one HDMI cable to my home theater receiver. Do I need a video card that has onboard
5.1 audio OR will any video card with HDMI pipe the 5.1 audio from the motherboard with
the video? Thanks for the quick response.

Newer cards have sound controllers built into them. Older ones require you to connect the card to the onboard SPDIF header via a cable. There isn’t much guesswork involved.
