HDMI Audio Delay Problem (HELP PLEASE!)

January 30th, 2020

hi,
Recently i bought a Geforce 460 GTX and an AOC HDMI supported Monitor, I’ve placed the cables and everything else, I have to choose “Nvidia High Definition Audio” as my Default audio device in Windows control panel to use HDMI sound. THE PROBLEM: after that whenever i play a movie or music, there is a 10 seconds delay (no sound for 10 secs) and after that it will be louder and louder till it becomes normal.
Also if I use monitor’s built in speakers this will happen too.
When I change my monitor resolution from 1680 x 1050 to something like 800 x 600 then delay becomes less…… like 2 secs without sound, not 10 !
My system specification: PU : Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz Ram: 1Gb Kingston 333MHz (DDR2 667) … 1Gb Samsung 333MHz (DDR2 667) Monitor : AOC 2230 Videocard : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Motherboard : ASUSTeK P5K SE (no pci-express 2 supports)
Here is a pic from my Monitor panel:

Answer #1
try changing your speaker settings in the audio control panel or in your player app
Answer #2
Thanks for your reply,
i’ve tried everything in there from “desktop stereo speakers” to “7.1 wide configuration speakers” but no result, still 10 secs delay exist.
Answer #3
What version of HDMI cable do you have? 1.1 , 1.2 , 1.3 ?
Answer #4
how can i find my cable version?!
Answer #5
There should be an HDMI option if you have connected anything properly. You shouldn’t be connected with “nvidia high definition audio”. What is this “audio” cable? How exactly is your set connected? Confused
Answer #6
Because I heard people having trouble using old HDMI cable , which probably only support 1.1 version
Still I don’t think you can see what version they are .. but if they are recent (not more than 4 years old) they are probably 1.3 , which is okay
But your problem might come from your monitor , it seem to get problem to send back the signal to the speaker… otherwise it’s your video card who have problem to deliver the sound and picture at the same time :S
What is your system specification? (cpu , ram , videocard ..)
Answer #7
I’ve tested it on a fresh Win7 without any extra drivers or apps, still have this issue,
CPU : Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz
Ram: 1Gb Kingston 333MHz (DDR2 667) … 1Gb Samsung 333MHz (DDR2 667)
Monitor : AOC 2230
Videocard : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Answer #8
any idea why all the duplicates in device mgr
you know what those are ?
uninstall all duplicate entries, reboot and let windows reinstall what’s needed
Answer #9
, I’ll do that, but i find out something, when i change my monitor resolution from 1680 x 1050 to something like 800 x 600 then delay becomes less…… like 2 secs without sound, not 10 !
I’m not sure if i can change my current cable to another one at the same price! maybe i need version 1.3
