Using Web Hosts for Downloads and Uploads

Is it possible to use a shared web hosting account or a VPS account to download and upload files to/from filehosts like Rapidshare? If so, it this usually against the TOS and what are the repercussions?

Yes this is possible. This is normally against the terms of service as it will clog up bandwidth and these hosting providers do not want legal problems with copyrighted files. The results of doing this will normally lead to a warning or your account getting suspended.
