USB Not recognized on laptop, when trying to format

August 3rd, 2016

Hello guys, today I bought a new laptop: Acer ES1-512-2511
The problem is that when trying to format it with USB, my device doesn’t show in the boot menu list. I also tried boot priority, still nothing.
I get a feeling that the laptop is booting too fast, and it’s not giving the USB the proper time to wake up. This has happened to me before, any ideas how to fix this?
Tried several windows versions and two USB sticks, still the same.

I’ve managed to fix that, now I’m getting this error:
“Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.”
Edited: I found some tutorials, but I kinda think they’re complicated, I think I’ll just go with Windows 8… what do you think?

whats the size of your usb ? there are 2 types of partition styles , mbr and gpt basicly they have 2 differences , mbr supports up to 2 tb as size where gpt has no limit.
and second one is if disk have mbr partition style u can have at most 4 partitions on disk , where gpt supports up to 2000 partitions.
normally both are supported through windows but maybe not through bios , so you have to convert your usb from gpt into mbr , it is easy process , i can tell the steps if you want
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/26203-convert-gpt-disk-mbr-disk.html
here is a good basic tutorial.
Removable disks are MBR disks by default. Removable disks cannot be converted into a GPT disk.
i wonder how u managed to convert usb to gpt
MBR disks use the standard BIOS partition table.GPT disks use extensible firmware interface (EFI).
so your laptop has legacy bios (blue screened) probably if it was uefi bios it would be still readable

THank you bro, I managed to install Windows 8 on it.
THANKX!

you r very welcome , it is really important external drives doesnt have gpt partition , since u use them on many things like tv etc.. probably many tv can not detect them also if they are at gpt partition. if your external hdd is larger than 2tb , there are still softwares to trick mbr and can have more than 2tb mbr partitioning , unfortunately you cant do it as easily until you find a special formatter especially belong to harddrive manufacturer.

That’s very helpful to know in the future. I had no idea limitations like that even exist lol.
Thank you so much dude.

i didnt know once too , years ago when i bought a 3tb hdd which was incredibly valuable at that time. i wanted to delete volume and re-create by myself , the result was devastating for me since i couldnt create more than 2 tb if there was someone who could told those are written on this topic , it would be solved in 5 minutes but i spent 5 hours to learn these in every detail
so i know how these situations are troubling , try my best to help people so they dont lose time. if you have another problem about hardware , especially limitations , i probably know the solution for it too if it is not very technical
