There is no such thing as mixed usb ports, Their either 1.1 or 2.0 period , Assuming that your laptop
is not 11 years old it have 2.0 no doubt , USB 2.0 got out in april 2000 so..

Answer #5
What OS/Service pack are you using?
Do you have other devices connected to the usb ports? If so it’s possible the flash drive is running slow because
it can’t draw enough power , This problem occures particulary on sandisk drives

Answer #7
Usually if this message “device can preform faster if you plug it in a 2.0 port” comes up its due to missing drivers…
Answer #8
it was a new usb pen that device can preform faster came up when i took the pen out it was red hot, also im using vista and whats a ICH
Answer #9
Try disconnecting all other USB devices (if present) then hookup the flash drive again
Is it a sandisk one?
ICH = South bridge of a motherboard chipset , meant to say that you should update your
chipset driver

Answer #11

Try a diffrent usb port , If no go then check on device manager
for any exclamation marks
What service pack do you have?
Answer #12
i will show you the easy way to update your drivers. (this is how to do in it XP, should be same as vista)
First -> go to control panel ->double click on system icon (icon is PC with check mark) -> hardware tab -> click on device manager in the first upper box -> find ‘Universal Serial Bus Controllers’ -> expand the section
you should be able to right click on these, and select update driver. This will update your drivers to the latest offering. I am told (i do not use vista) that vista actually does this quite well. If this does not work, you might have to go to manufacturers website and download the drivers manually and then do a manual install.
Good Luck.
Answer #13
all USB drives give you this error ?
lil more direct than ‘s link
put
devmgmt.msc
into your search box, hit enter
Click on the Universal Serial Bus Controllers
If your Device Manager shows an ENHANCED USB Host Controller, the system has High Speed USB (USB 2.0) capability. The key word is ENHANCED. If you have an ENHANCED USB Host Controller then you have High Speed USB (USB 2.0)
Answer #14
ok i been on devmgmt.msc and this is what it says, their is an enhanced usb but how do i know what slot it actually is Image
Answer #15
Just try them all and the one does not say plug this into a USB 2.0 slot… is it.
Answer #16
but how do i know what slot it actually is
should be all of them
you try the drive in another PC ?
