Upon download of rapidshare files I get empty files?

August 2nd, 2016

This was addressed once in the forum that I could find and the answer was that it’s a common question but they didn’t want to answer it… or along those lines…
I’ve just shifted from BT to Rapidshare thought I’d give it a go – got a premium account – and tried flashget as a d/l manager – everytime I copied my links it shoots through them and deposits the RAR files on my drive – all of them 17.28kbs in size and totally empty – I also tried the same thing with non-archived .avi files – same thing empty avis… also tried with .wmv files exactly the same…
Interestingly they work fine on direct download from rapidshare – but this is a lengthy time consuming process
So I figure that it’s the manager so I randomly try another one “orbit” – with exactly the same results.
Does anyone know whats going on? It must be because I’m using the manager – I tried using only a couple of links and it always does the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated If I can get this up and running I’ll never have to use BT again
Cheers Ewan

Answer #1
Is the Direct download enabled in your premium account settings?
Answer #2
hmmmmm *checking*
Is that the following tick box?
“Direct downloads, requested files are saved without redirection via RapidShare”
Answer #3
well I checked it and tried again – did exactly the same thing…
Answer #4
Have you removed .html at the end of the links while downloading them ?
Answer #5
they appear to not be on:
here’s example ones that I know aren’t working for me:

http://~ Dead file host ~/files/155690167/Heroes_1x19_.07_.part1.rar http://~ Dead file host ~/files/155690161/Heroes_1x19_.07_.part2.rar http://~ Dead file host ~/files/155690163/Heroes_1x19_.07_.part3.rar http://~ Dead file host ~/files/155690034/Heroes_1x19_.07_.part4.rar

On download I get 4 .rar archives each 17.28kb in size with nothing in them.
Please remember that ALL links must be coded, including, but not limited to, e-mail addresses, passwords, and internal links. Coded for you this time-glenny.

Most people put rar.html and when you download you can either don’t select the HTML part of the link or when the file is downloaded right click and select open with and select winrar. If both of those don’t work in the future that means the file is deleted or broken in some wat
Answer #7
Surely its problem with your premium account while download the file. Its downloading HTML file of the download page. If you rename those rar to .html and open in firefox, it should look like rapidshare page.
If yes, your premium account is has some problem working with flashget. Try using internet download manager.

Sorry multiple responses in one post…
:
They work fine if I individually copy/paste each address and go through the motions – so I know the links aren’t broken – it’s something on my end :
It’s not downloading the html pages – I’m getting the correctly named .rar archive – but it’s empty
For info on downloaded files – you can prob see from the URL – 1 episode of heroes – I’m getting the correct .rar files but they don’t have files archived within them – and 17.28kb is far to small to just have a corrupted quarter episode in it.
So very confused – I’ll be sad to have to go back to BT…
Tried Internet Download Manager – same again…
Answer #9
BT FTW THEN
Answer #10
heh… hmmm was hoping to leave it behind as rapidshare seems far more secure – oh well – I’ll just have to leave RS till later and I’ll try again – until then I’m going to be checking my mail for RIAA letters and other such nasties
Thanks for the helps guys appreciated – if anyone has a solution give me a shout I’d appreciate it
Cheers

Hmm, this happens to my sometimes with MU too even with the direct download option on. I usually just enter the links into my browser and let it auto dl with IDM.
Answer #12
Looks like was right:
It’s trying to download the intermediate html page – but somehow downloads as a .rar…
However the direct downloading is checked in it
Have tried with:
Flashget
Orbit
Internet Download Manager (this was the one that showed me it was “looking at” an html page)
I got my mate to log in and try and it works fine for him (you can have two IPs yeah? :S hope so… lol)
Any more ideas?
Cheers again
Ewan
