UPGRADE Graphics Card + Laptop
January 30th, 2020
What I am interested at is:
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx680keplerseries/02g-p4-2682-kr.html
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB GDDR5
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx670keplerseries/67nph6dv5zvx.html
Any opinions? Is there much difference between these to? Or would you suggest me something else, comparable in performance but cheaper?
Also I would like to buy a laptop, what I need is 15,6 FULL HD Screen, elegant, not too heavy, very fast up to 300-400 GBP.
What I found is:

Any good?
Would really appreciate any suggestions
PS: My current specs are:
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth P67
CPU: Intel i5 2500k 3.33GHz O.C 4.7GHz
Cooling: Noctua NH-D14
RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz + OCZ 2GB 1600MHz
GPU: MSI ATI Radeon HD 5870 Twin Frozr II Lightning 1GB DDR5 O.C GC1100/MC1450MHz
PSU: Corsair HX650W
The lappy is not that fast – integrated graphics and i3 ? NAH!
Depends what you want it for – low level games and online = fine.. more intensive gaming = no.

As for the GCards – I’d go for the 670.. the 680 is not a hell of a lot faster and you won’t really see that extra speed in current games (can you see the difference between 55 fps and 62 fps? For e.g.)
The laptop will be used mostly for studying, however since I am Computer Engineering student, I might be doing some other work, which means running several applications at the same time and I want it to be superb fast!
Also when I travel I might actually use it for gaming, but I don’t expect it to run all games at full settings as I would need to spend 2-3x more money..
Any opinions on this one?:

And yes, I am gonna go for 670
Saw this earlier today Lenovo IdeaPad U310 399 might be of interest to you

The lappys are all much the same, i3 with 8g and cpu grpahics side-chip.
What was your budget for the lappy, if you can spring for 600 or so.. well.. I got my i7, 8G, GT 540M Acer Aspire 5750G for 598 (on special).
It EATS most modern games for lunch, 4 cores with HT blitzes video or photo processing..
One BIG thing I really hate about Acer is that they have a dozen model 5750G – and they are all different!! Why the Fk could they not have given the different configurations different model names???
Still – Amazon UK have an i5 5750G with 6G ram and a gt610 (not as good as the gt540) for 580
What I am planning to spend is maximum 400, I just want it to be uber fast and I DONT EXPECT IT TO RUN NEWEST GAMES ON FULL SETTINGS!
really confused now, dunno what to get so that I won’t regret it in the future

In that case look for an i5 with the integrated Intel 3000/4000 graphics, i7 is better but dearer.
Try for a higher spec i5 (they come in different specifications) rather than dedicated graphics.
6 to 8 g ram (six with high spec i5 or i7 is better then 8 g and low end i5)
500 – 640 gig hard drive, more means more money that you should use on the cpu.
dvd writer (don’t faff about with bluray on this)

i3 is OK for internet and match 3 games, hidden object games, etc, but you really won’t like it all that much.
It’s not much better than a dual core tablet..
Opinions on this?

Do you think I made a good decision?
i3, slim, very light and NVIDIA GeForce 610M 1GB graphics.
Yup I do mate , one up from the one I posted earlier in the thread
yeah the other one had integrated Intel 3000 graphics, which I didn’t like
True but you didn’t want to spend over 400 then either
