TV Media Player

August 1st, 2016

I’m looking for a media player which can play all video file format which I can plug in USBs or SD card to play the videos
I was looking at the Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2 but not sure if that’s the best media player
Budget is around 20-30
Also will a branded 64GB USB be good on the media player for playing 4-6 hours of videos or will a external HDD be better?

I have a Raspberry pi which does everything. But if you do not want to waste time setting up basic things, I suggest something like this. Based on current monetary exchange rate.

The important thing here is that with the current latest Android software, this is not a dead end software or firmware solution as your original suggestion seems to be. The Android can always be upgraded in an infinite amount of ways in the future.

I’m just looking for a normal media player without Android something like the Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2 but not sure if that’s the best media player

The micro 2 is a fine little player – it will play more files than eg. WD live media player, and is cheaper. You won’t get any cheap player to play 10 bit movie files, but not many posted here anyway.
However, from my experience, get the micro 2 + it’s even better

I’ve got one of these. It works brilliantly. Plays everything I’ve thrown at it.

So can the micro 2 plus (and it’s smaller)

It’s up to the OP what he wants to get really, so the more suggestions the better
Personally in my living room I have got an Egreat R300.

You don’t find many players with slave and host USB 3.0.
You can look at the site below for info

To the poster above, it’s not the Android updates that are important, you don’t use the Android to play movies,(unless you are using a basic pi) it’s firmware updates for the player itself which you want. The Egreat above still has firmware updates on their forum.
*edit – as to what you use to play from, that’s totally up to you, a flash card/pen drive is small, but won’t hold as much as an external.

What’s the difference between the Micro 2 and Micro 2+? I’ll be using the media player to play FLV, MP4 and other formats but not MKV, as I download the videos from YouTube, also does the Micro 2 upscale the video to TV full screen?
Also can you confirm if it’s this one the Micro 2+,

I’ll be using the Micro 2 for about 4-6 hours straight just playing videos everyday, 64GB memory capacity is enough for me as FLV and MP4 files don’t take up that much space, My concern is that if I play videos for that long, will the USB memory stick not overheat? Also I don’t want the USB memory stick to corrupt as I’ll be unplugging the USB from the media player to plug into my PC to transfer more video files
