Do you have a soundcard or is it onboard sound?
If you right click My Computer > Manage > Device Manager (on the left) and look under Other devices. Try and right click > update or something when connected to the Internet. Alternately if it’s just onboard, you’ll probably have to install your motherboard drivers. Once again this information can be found in Device Manager.
Chances are that it will be the Realtek Audio driver, but don’t go installing it without making sure as you should never install the wrong drivers. Alternatively if you post me your motherboard model number I’ll have a look for you.
