[SOLVED] LED light flickering issue

August 4th, 2016

My house is having a renovation, and i installed spot-lights on my ceiling. I decided to get LED gu10 light bulbs (cool white), oppose to halogen bulbs because there Eco-friendly and consume less energy. I also installed dimmer switches in all the room so that lights can be dimmed. In 2 of 5 rooms I have, the lights seem to be flickering and strange buzzing sound? I replaced the dimmer switches but the issues is still not fixed. If i install a standard on/off switch the lights are fine, but i want to use dimmer switches.
This is the specification of what i purchased: FIRE RATED PRESSED LED DOWNLIGHT 240V MAINS GU10 FIXED 3W – 6W DIMMABLE:

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The most common problem here is probably the transformer. I’m not sure if these bulbs need a transformer but a lot of incandescent GU10 LEDs do require one. The one you have might not suffice or you might not have one at all. Did your bulbs fit straight into the incandescent fitting without you doing anything?

^ It’s ok friend I figured out the problem myself. A little research, and i stumbled upon this website: http://www.yourwelcome.co.uk/blog/dimming-led-lamps/
Basically the standard dimmer switches will not work with LED lights, due to the watts.

It could be the energy saving bulbs causing the problem, I remember when I fitted dimmers here it stated not too use energy efficient bulbs. I have occasionally used one when desperation for a bulb has required it and found that the dimmer switch does make a buzzing sound, but not flickering (but that could be because they are LED). I can only really suggest trying halogen bulbs and see if the problem goes away.
Edit: you posted while I was typing

Thanks for the suggestion friend, but I have purchased these LED dimmer switches, which i believe will resolve the issues: http://www.screwfix.com/p/varilight-trailing-edge-push-dimmer-1g-1-2w-400w-va/94816
