[SOLVED] Audio bitrate with AAC codec – can’t find it

August 5th, 2016

Ok, so i use MediaInfo Lite (included in KLite Codec Pack) to know more about video files. I ripped my first movie a few days ago (and i have no experience with ripping movies), following a tutorial. Then i wanted to share my rip and looked at NFOs from the scene to see which info i should provide. I could not find the audio bitrate (I used the Nero AAC codec). I tried several info tools for MKV files but with no success (I tried Mediainfo (not Lite) & Shell Extension too, both provided at the official matroska site).
Here is the complete info file:

EDIT: I looked for someone else that rips m-HD movies and uses AAC codec and found a movie I had from RKO. Here’s what the NFO says (about audio), made by RKO:
[Audio C/B ]......[ ND AAC LC 6ch @ 192 kbps
and here’s what i can find with my tools:

Answer #1
have you tried updating the version of MediaInfo that you have to newest version?
Answer #2
have you tried updating the version of MediaInfo that you have to newest version?I already use the latest version.
Answer #3
ok, try using the BASIC view in MediaInfo instead of one of the other advanced views.
BASIC view is what I use and it always shows me the bitrates for video and audio.

Doesn’t work, not even for video:

I’ve had this problem too. Must be something wrong with the way it’s muxed, as mine showed the bitrate when it was on its own, but not when within an mkv.

I've had this problem too. Must be something wrong with the way it's muxed, as mine showed the bitrate when it was on its own, but not when within an mkv.If I test it with a mkv file with AC3 audio, it shows audio bitrate. It only doesn’t work with AAC codec. Very strange. Maybe I’ll PM RKO to know how he did it.
Answer #7
Just play the file with WMP or MPC and see what ffdshow audio decoder shows.
Answer #8
thanks!
Answer #9
Well I knew the audio bitrate before I muxed it, so I don’t really need to worry about it.
The same may well be true for RKO (knowing the bitrate already) when he converts it from a presumable AC3 or DTS source.
