safari opening links in new tab and going straight to it

January 22nd, 2020

Anyone know how i can stop a link like a thumbnail opening in another tab going straight to the tab so that i don’t keep having to go back to the tab I’m on. Hope that makes sense
Thanks

unfortunately no, its not the same in mavericks for a mac.
if i click a link or a picture it opens it in a new tab and safari goes straight to that tab but i don’t want it to do that
Answer #3
Preferences / Tabs – uncheck When a new tab or window opens, make it active.
I’ve never understood the need for tabs to behave like that. It drives me nuts to click a link and then have to go click on the tab to see what I clicked on in the first place.
Answer #4
think u misunderstood me. i have 1 tab open, whatever i click on that page i want it to o;pen in a new tab but not go straight to it, stay on the 1st tab

No misunderstanding. Preferences / Tabs - uncheck When a new tab or window opens, make it active.

With this option unchecked, new tabs will open in the background until you click on the tab to bring it to the front.

Well that option is always unchecked under tabs and it still behaves the same way. I’m using Mavericks
EDIT
Ok realised i have to hold down cmd with each mouse click. Still think you shouldn’t have to do this though
