Rapidshare banned from school network

hi,
The site rapidshare and other download sites, torrents are banned at my school(ghent). Is there a way to go round this block and download using the school servers? (high speed downloads to 12mb/sec before it got banned)

No its at the university, i havent used rs in a long time in school and just noticed the ban. Do you know any proxy sites that work at ugent

If I was you I wouldn’t bother touching or bypassing any blocked torrent or download sites.
The reason is, most of the times the computers you have run off a server or a few, I’ve found out that
like the solihull Grid who block my schools sites etc and the Servers which come from LanS don’t really have protection as they rely on the computers protection (Of-course the servers do get scanned) But yeah, you Log onto a school computer with your ID they give you (most of the time), this will run through the schools server, so if you bypass the filter and download something, the server will log that and an Admin will see to it.
If you get a virus or Trojan onto the server you’re putting almost every school computer at risk resulting in private data lost as well as a Goodbye for you. (Even to be questioned or have charges against by the police)
Even then I could be wrong it can be down to how your computers and servers are set up. Over in my Academy we have 4 servers for the windows files, 10+ servers for the data stored from students and 2 more for the admins (never known what they do)
Overall, downloading seems like a stupid idea on a school computer.

I’ve been there 2 years now, tried about 100 proxies, only a few worked, and they get banned after a while
most proxies are not ready for RS
but I’ll keep trying

be carefull, you have a 8 gb/month limit if I’m not mistaken
so you better log in anonymous
most of the other server hosts are not banned though
so if you have a lot of time, you can dnl from megashare, megaupload or something else as a free user
personally I don’t bother any more
I have 60 gb at home, double that when I download at night
and that’s enough for me

if i’m not mistaken megashare, megaupload, … have been banned to. I know about the 10gb limit but i’ve only got 4gb/month when i’m in ghent so 10gb is a welcome change.
