On-topic: I have a Xbox 360.
i have both. i prefare my ps3 for games and i use the xbox for the media center upstairs.
ps3 is best console and media server. inb4 bock juffalo.

Look at the exclusives on each console, if you want to play any of them get that console. At this stage I’d probably say the PS3 has the better exclusives.
If you want to play online get whichever console the most of your friends have.
I have both but play most multiplatform titles on the 360, the framerates are usually slightly better, the controller isn’t a POS and I prefer LIVE to PSN.
honestly at the end of the day its your preference for me its exclusives and online
ps3 online is free which saves me money thats important to me but playing online with my friends too and they all have xbox it all depends on what situation applies to u

Biggest difference between the two are the exclusive games: xbox has gears of war, halo, etc while ps3 has metal gear solid, uncharted, twisted metal etc
Also, you have to pay in order to play online on the xbox, online gaming is free on the ps3.
I got a xbox myself but a PC owns both anytime

Can’t get both? I have a cracked xbox for free offline singleplayer games, and a ps3 for legit mutiplayer games!!!
I think EVERYONE should do what I do. $60/year for xbox live is a SCAM! PSN IS FREE!

I had an Xbox 360. I prefer using my PC for gaming. It’s just easier for me. I’d argue PS3 is better because of the free online and all that Jazz. The 360 is really just lacking when it comes down to it, but that’s just what I think.

just get what your mates have. if they have a ps3 get that if a 360 get that. your wasting money on a console anyway

I don’t think one console “lasts longer” that another. It depends on how the person keep them. If they are lying flat/standing up. If it’s in a cramped space or somewhere with lots of space and good airflow ect.
We have had our 360 for a good while, with no problems. Longer than my mates PS3 which just blew up lol
xbox 360 for me too. it cheaper and more reliable now with the redesign of the console. no more heating problems and xbox live is much better..

My sis has PS3 and The severs are very unreliable,games cut out all the time while in the middle of playing,Xbox360 live you got to pay for,but its worth it.(In USA its like 35$ for 14 months,thats pretty cheep)
Also PS3 got hacked and was offline for months,360 has never been…
Also people that say theirs only little kids on xbox never seem to have the facts,I bet you theirs the same amount of kids on PS3.Not that I see many on 360.

I’ve gotten a lot more use out of my PS3, online and off. Mainly because the 360 pad disagrees with my knuckle alignment but also because I’m not a big fan of the game line up.
Most importantly, get a console out of preference for the pad and the exclusive games. The only games I play on my 360 are TES, Fallout and the occasional XBL game.

you are just making that up. ive had the ps3 for about 3 years and have NEVER had a problem, nieither have my mates who have one. if it was that bad, everyone would be complaining and you would here about it on here.

but believe me that its better to buy ps3 …cuz –

its easy to jailbreak it ………. no need of modded chips . in xbox u need to get a modded chip in order to jailbreak it .
2)
ps3 controller does not require batteries …… so u will save some money in long run .,
3)
playing online games is free in ps3 , in xbox u need to pay in-order to play online ….

Most of my friends are on XBox live so I ended up getting that. And they do last, as long as you take care of them. One of my brothers had one the first week it came out and still works, and my other brother has had around 5, but he’s somewhat heavy handed.

And if your friends have both(or Forever alone):
Since in my opinion the ps3 is the faster hardware-wise console it will go on for a few more years where as the xbox will probably be replaced soon since it’s kinda lacking behind hardware wise.
Edit: With all the PS3 brakes down easly crap people are saying here,
the fail rate of a PS3 is very low, much lower than the 360. And I have a 1st GEN ps3 hasn’t failed me once time, a month ago I replaced the controller it worked just fine but the L3 key got stuck somtimes.
PS3 hands down IMO. maybe cause i’ve played the most on that particular console.
For your average teen, either will do the job entertainment wise Get both, i did before outgrowing puter games
