can i play a bluray .iso file on a home theater system through usb drive?
or do i have to burn it on a bluray disc in order to play the movie?

Yes well that would depend on the specs of your home theater.
Look in the manual or Google it to see if ISO format is mentioned..

thanks!you might need to convert the iso to a format that is compatible with your system.
When you say “USB”, you talking about the usb in the back of your TV?
For my visio tv, avi, and mp4 works via usb. Mkv files don’t work with my tv
