Look for the exact Mottherboard and CPU specifications, and see what socket they have
If ure not sure howto, post the serialnumbers here
find the mobo models @ there web sites and check what CPU’s they take
CPU’s are socket specific. Just look at your existing socket and see what type it is. It should be written on the socket, or nearby. It will at the very least be in the manual. If you don’t have the manual, look at the manufacturer website.
You don’t want to mess up the pins of your CPU trying to put it in the wrong type of socket.
the other things may not fit, you have to take the ram and the psu in to the situation.
I ve got an Intel P4 3.0 GHz Socket 478 on a Asus P4P800E Mainboard and I want to change the mainboard to a 775 Socket so that I can install a pci-e graphic card, but I dont want to change my cpu since it works fine.
it can’t be done but I can’t point you any where for proof
if you have your P4P800E Mainboard manual go to page 2-7(in my p4p800se manual anyway)
download the P5B(socket775 mobo) manual from asus and also in page 2-7
they show pics of the sockets
the 478 CPU has pins on it, the 775 CPU the pins are now in the socket instead of the CPU
total different sockets
10q mate your right about this I dont think its possible but its a shame to buy a new cpu when your its still good but thats called business
