With those specs overclocking won’t give you any noticeable improvement ………. I wouldn’t bother.
Buying more RAM might help.

Headucation …….. the main problem you have is the RAM and if you have the full version of XP Pro SP2 installed a lot of your RAM will be taken up by the OS.
You might be better off installing Tiny XP or something similiar.

well mate first of all look on ebay and get some ram i doubt is that expensive get a gig in there and you will be fine, but a celeron 1.4 is not so good, you can get a sempron laptop for about 499 if you can spare that from somewhere….
but man buy some ram, you will be happy
can you post your laptop model and give a link to the companies website where the informaton for your laptop is located please?

I have an old crappy laptop running a 900MHz Pentium II with 768mb or upgraded RAM running XP PRO very well. I recently dual-booted it with ubuntu 7.1 and it is now as fast as my dual core lappy for web surfing!
