Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti
September 23rd, 2013
So I had to buy a new power supply and it still don’t work in fact when I plug both of the PCI2 ports from power supply in not even the keyboard works it is like it sucks up everything but with only one in it works. But no matter what the graphics card don’t work.
The new power supply the max amp it said on it was 20 so does them amps actually matter?
Also it said I need intel pentium 4 processor I have intel core 2 does that mean I have a better one?
Thanks, sorry for the noobishness
You bought a old cheap PSU.
If you knew what the card needed then why did you buy a PSU that is not powerful enough?
what PSU did you actually get ?
if it was cheap then it is more then likely ~love~.
Yes, you need something better than the core 2 dual series or else your 560 ti will be bottlenecked.
You will need a new motherboard (and processor) to be able to use your GTX 560 ti to it’s full potential. I recommend an i5 2500 with some LGA 1155 motherboard depending on your budget.
Also make sure you plug in the 6 pin power (2) to your graphics card, which is located on your power supply. If not, the graphics card should have come with molex to 6-pin power connectors.
If you require a new power supply instead, go for the brands antec, seasonic, OCZ, corsair, but not coolermaster (unless you spend over $100+).
Also try the 560 ti on another computer to ensure that it is working.
Happy gaming!
Solyendo, Is intel core 2 better then intel pentium 4? I will upgrade when I get more money. My power supply was £25. was not good but was my only budget, if I get a 38amps one do you think this will work? also when I plugged in the 2 “6 pin power (2)” it actually cut off have the motherboard maybe sucked all power?
Thanks
For now get a better powersupply. It would help if you actually name the power supply you got with exact watts. Buy atleast a 600 watt power supply. if 450 is gonna be used just for the vid card your motherboard, processor also need to power to run!!
And when you get more money buy a new processor and motherboard. IF you currently have core 2 series it means you have LGA 775 motherboard and YEs those are better then Pentium 4.
450 on gpu? no way a whole PC with a gtx560 wont get even close to pulling 450w from the psu.
I brought a HIGHPOWER 450W ATX Power Supply Unit but had to take it back.

At minimum, I would get something like this:

How much do you have to spend on a PSU?
I guess you have already learned now that going cheap isn’t worth it when it comes to PSU’s.
What you need to keep in mind is that not only is the PSU there to power the PC it’s also in charge of the safety of every single component inside the PC should anything go wrong they have the potential to write off everything.
I would suggest if looking at corsairs PSU’s you look at the HX650 or TX650.
Worth the extra cash over the cheaper models as they are a seasonic design (currently the best PSU’s)
Corsairs other PSU’s are based on cheaper designs.
simple as saying peaches:
-try it on other pc
-respect specifications then install
i ordered the same card, hopefully i do not have the same problems,
had someone else build my pc, thought it should be as easy as pushing it in and putting a connector it it.
mine comes in 4 days due to free delivery, if it doesnt work il have to buy a new psu
nadir let me know how you get on, I got a 700W psu and still don’t work cost £60 but then I read the amps and it ain’t enough.
Basically I unplug the 2 PCI2 connector things from the graphics card everything works but when there plugged in not even the on board monitor works. Drivers won’t install without using the graphics card. so stuck.
The guy at PC World told me that the PSU would work… but obviously not :/
OKOK, tell something mate, I have a GTX 560 Ti and most common mistakes are when people Plug-in the power cords to the Graphics cards they only plug ONE(1), there is actually TWO(2) power cords that needs to be plug-in to the GFX card, if i’m and correct one of the power cords that comes out the Power supply had like 6 pins that can be slit into like 4 and 2 pins… U see what i mean?
I plug in both off them which are both the same width and same amount of pins but no look… the fan goes round and nothing else works on the motherboard like onboard graphics… keyboard… etc but when I unplug them then everything everything works again… I don’t see why the graphics card is sucking everything up
Hey, it looks like you might have changed the wattage on the PSU. do you see a little button on the back of the PSU? i think it allows you to change between 155 and 120 not sure about the values, BUT! try changing that value to the MINIMUM. then see if it works. Hope this helps.
Never ever skimp out on the power supplies. You should have a minimum of 500w PSU. Also, The GTX 560 Ti has 2 power connectors side by side, so make sure they are plugged. Not getting enough power may have adverse affects on your PC. Also, Core 2 Duo is better than a old Pentium 4. Pentium 4 is really ancient now.

take it back to PC world and get your money back.
there rip off bastards ! if your in the UK either use
www.scan.co.uk
www.overclockers.co.uk
and if a good PSU from there doesnt work i would think about sending the GPU back also.
