newbie looking to build a gaming computer…need advice…
July 26th, 2016
i need advice on all aspects….is there a forum anyone recommends besides this one….
everyone here has been super helpful with all things this site provide but i’m looking for specific to building questions…..
just need somewhere to start that is good so i am not wasting my time….thanks
here’s the best place to ask your questions and get answers.
I have recently built a computer from scratch with the help of my step father. it took us a bit of time but I can safely say it was the best thing I have ever done. plus, it’s a lot cheaper than buying a pre built system.
anyway, have a look here:

there’s a load of sites, tutorials and help on the Internet for first time building. I had to do research too.

they answer questions really fast, they have helped me a lot.
what is your budget?
Yes , the most important thing is the budget..
Then do you prefer a particular brand of gear and what features do you need of it all.
Then mention an online store(s) that you could buy from so we ain’t looking for shops in the wrong country to get prices from..
well i’m looking to build this over some time….i figure to spend like 50$ a week on buying parts….
i’m looking to build a base unit to start online gaming like World of Warcraft…..i just want a computer that wont lag when playing and my laptop is lagging quite a bit…
some friends gave me some old computers and between the three i couldnt get a full system because of different size slots and wire connections that didn’t match up and ram that didn’t fit in one motherboard….the last time i did work on a computer everything fit together…that tells you how long ago..(i think it was a 486)…LOL
that’s why i wanted a forum and a place to research and tutorials….i don’t want to buy a box system,,,i like want to build it……
i live in the states and i really only shop on tigerdired.com and amazon.com
thanks for your guys help….anything you can offer is really appreciated…..
God i love this site…..it’s so awesome
US & $50 a week? so 50×20 = $1000. you’d be lucky to get a top spec PC at that price IMO.
you’d be better off waiting until you have enough cash to buy all the parts in one go, or buy the majority of parts then hold out for a SSD, HDD etc.
but that’s up to you, we can’t tell you what to do ha!
I built my dream PC with parts I already had. I had the DVD Drive, HDD, GPU and RAM. to buy everything else I needed was £503ish. it’s fully built but I have to wait until I have more cash so I can buy a HDD, SSD and GPU.
can you do that?
it would be good (?) so you can buy most of the parts, use parts you already have then over time add more money and complete your build.
however, you might want to do things different but that’s what I have done and what I’d do if I had to do it again.
that is true Headyv2…..and i’m looking to get online with a system to start and then keep upgrading every few weeks till i have a top spec system…..will take awhile i know….
good advice tho….i have no patience to wait till i have all the money…lol……
