New System Build (Help Choosing CPU) and other questions

August 8th, 2013

im going to be building a computer not only for gaming but also for production uses too like photoshop work, after effects, when i do music im going to have heavy program use like fl studio, cubase and reason all working at the same time. so i need a beefy processor so here is what ive came down to i dont have alot of money my bugdet is around 1000 usd so either the amd bulldozer 8 core or i5 2500 i dont need the 2500k because the only difference is the IntelĀ® HD Graphics right? which shouldnt matter if im getting the 560 right? but then i heard that there is a third generation i5 coming around the corner i just dont know what to do im looking for an excellent CPU for less than 300 usd
Ill be going to play games mostly from steam like tf2 and others, also i like to play older games like bioshock 1 and 2 crysis 1 and 2mainly not too many new games but i want the option to play the newer games i dont want to dish out hella money on a 580 or 590 so i was thinking of the 1gb 560 gtx ti, let me know what you think of that gfx card.

Answer #9
as with all technology, which is why i am seeking advice on which will last longer and PERFORM better with what I explained at the start of this topic. I dont understand how you cant interpret that, I list what i am going to be doing and i need opinions based on facts what is going to be best suited for my needs ie Heavy Program use and gaming.

are you serious? you can build a way better computer cheaper than you can buy a NAME BRAND computer. Most computers selling on the market at like best buy or your local electronic store are still using 1st gen intel. Why because alot of people dont do research they know the name so with that said they name brands can put older products in computers sell them at a high price for a great profit, and this is why most pc dont last for more than a couple years.
Answer #11

I have read your comments and im dumbfounded by why you even responded to this topic, you are of little help if any at all, your remarks in your last post like “u want this bulldozer thing” tells me that you almost know absolutely very little of what is being discussed. and your very first response was graphics have nothing to do with cpu yes obviously but that wasnt the main point that was a little question in the big picture i was implying that the 2500 and 2500k i5 have IntelĀ® HD Graphics 2000 and 3000 and i was clearing up if that was the only difference between the two, which is implying if there is another difference because i dont know can you please state it as in performance wise.
Answer #14
calm down dude u americans are very symphatic really
if u see that u want do buy the 2500 variant its your own opinion and yes they have no differences
but the best is to wait 2-3 months for the new generation if u want thats your own opinion too
because we life in a free world dude btw

seriously… are you stupid? first symphatic? what does that mean its not in the dictionary. second this is why i created this thread i dont know why i have to explain step by step to you but maybe because if someone comes in that needs it more broken down than you they too can understand. I created this thread because i dont know what is better an i5 2500 or the 8 core bulldozer because intel is known for the hyper threading and turbo boost technology so i dont know if it is comparable to the bulldozer as it has 8 cores, which is why i am seeking information. I know the i5 is a very good processor and can beat many amd quad cores and six cores, but this 8 core seems promising so i am seeking everbodys input but thanks to you i think this thread is dead

@ iMacus o4i > It’s best just to ignore this poster as I’m sure someone will come along with the helpful and pertinent information that you seek.
In the meantime, I can contribute to some of your questions.
The Bulldozer Architecture is excellent but it fails to live up to the hype and I think most would advise getting a i5 2500k instead, considering your given price range.
The difference between the 2500 and 2500k is that you cannot over-clock a 2500 but the price difference is really not enough of a factor for a getting 2500.
The GTX 560 Ti as your choice for a GPU would also be considered as favorable by most for the price range.
Make sure you invest in a reliable brand and proper rated PSU such as Corsair, Antec, or Rosewill.
There are members who are up to speed on the latest builds and will hopefully give you great details for your build.

THANK YOU SMITTY, your post is reassuring. I had wanted to steer toward the i5 but i mean the fact that the amd is an 8 core processor that is definitely why i had to consider it as a choice, you know. i did not know about the overclock issue as that may be something i want to consider for the future, the gtx 560 ti, do you think it will be able to handle battlefield 3 around high
Answer #19
Based on your Badget: Go with AMD Buldozer 8120 or 8150 and graphic card AMD 6950 – 6970, nVidia Card are jsut more expensive, also AMD is better anyway in Graphic, Intel Processor are better ussualy but more expensive as well. AMD Buldozer will be enough though. Get any good MSI or Asus Mothearboard + PSU at least 600W and then you will be fine with your badget.
