New build, won’t POST [solved]
January 25th, 2020
Asus h61M-E motherboard
2×4 G. Skill Ripjaws X Series pc1600 memory
Corsair CM500x PS
geforce GTX 460 video card
I get a single beep (gives the illusion of passing post)
then I get 1 long beep followed by 1 short beep, a pause, and 1 more short beep.
Now the 1 long 3 short i’m familiar with, but the extra pause and short beep have me mystified.
I can’t even find a beep code like that fot this board.
What’s going on?
I should add that I get no video signal at all, and since the processor (Intel i5-3350p) with no GPU, I can’t even try to boot it up using the onboard graphics.
Could be just something just not slotted or connected properly..
Remove and reinstall RAM/Graphics card and CPU..
Make sure both Power supply connector are connected, the large one and the small one..Also check the graphics card power connector..
If all that fails try resetting the bios..

Tried all of the above already, no luck
First.. Whats your psu?

as my post said, it’s a corsair CM500X
1 long, 2 short = Video card problem.
Could be DOA, Improperly seated or not getting enough power. Is it brand new or taken from a previous computer?
Also, Your card has 2 6-PIN PCI-E Power Inputs, Did you plug em both in? If not, That might be the issue!
Also, Do you have any spare video card you could try?

thanks for the response.
the beep code I actually get is 1 long 3 short, a pause and 1 short (never heard anything like it before)
both 6 pins are plugged in. I’ve tried reseating everything, no joy. I don’t have another Graphics card I can try.
Well, That’s certainly changes things!
Both 1 long, 3 short & 1 short indicate bad RAM.
Since you have 2 4GB Sticks, The wise thing to do would be trying each one standalone (With the other one disconnected!)

I figured out that the Video card was bad, it’s now up and running, weird thing about the beep codes though.
thanks for the help.
