Need help about the Irish Civil War

August 8th, 2016

Well, as far as i know.. it was the british that invaded Ireland to conquer the Nortrend part, and killed many innecent people. And that’s what started the hatred between protestants and catholics today?
Or what? please help me.. becuase when i read on wikipedia, i see something about a treaty, and Ireland was splitted?
Was it the British army that started the civil war or?
I need it for my english exam tomorrow.

The Free State army, was that the british or what?
Or is the IRA the british?
Becuase i’ve just read that the catholic churches supported The Free State, and the british was protestants? So that does not make any sence?
Please help me, i’m so confused…

Answer #2
Why on Earth did you pick a topic you don’t even know about for your English exam?????
Answer #3
The whole of Ireland was once under British rule which goes back centuries, however the republic separated from the UK and became an independent state in the period 1918-1920. The six northern ‘protestant’ counties remained a part of the UK, and it is that issue which the IRA and others were fighting over in more recent times. The Brits were already there, there wasn’t an ‘invasion’.
Answer #4
You may need to watch the movie Micheal Collins.

Answer #5
“The whole of Ireland was once under British rule which goes back centuries” – WRONG on a lot of levels, please learn history before trying to pass on false information.
