My startup times are so slow on my new laptop.

From power button press to everything being loaded it takes quite a while.
I installed a bunch of stuff but everything seems clean and organized.
Is it the objectdock I installed?

install a clean copy of the OS. My G1 takes around 4 mins to stop disk activity after loggin’ windows (it’s usable since log in but it has disk activity)=p thats cause of the all bloatware ASUS installed.

Have a look at everything that runs at startup. Open RUN and Type msconfig
Probably got loads of unnecessary startup items.

No not really..
I’d say startup times are normal.. but between the time I get to the desktop and the time everything is loaded like objectdock and I can actually run a program is like 30 seconds..

Well, that’s normal. Objectdock and all those other Stardock programs take a while to start up. You can’t expect to have a fast booting computer while running those kind of programs.

To me everything sounds quite normal. You do not have a problem. Just need to be patient while windows is loading.
Waiting 30 seconds is hardly a problem…

what is your total boot up time and what version of windows are you using?

Vista 64bit home premium.
I’d say at least a minute 10 before it’s just up and running and responsive.
Probably 40 seconds to get to my desktop and that’s when things are starting to load etc..
But as long as that sounds normal I’m fine with it and the sacrifice. I like the dock.

He can use the old drivers. I’m using it right now and everything works fine. Just needs to be patient while looking for a driver.

Yeah, most vista drivers will work, but if you aren’t that familiar with this kind of stuff it’s better to wait a bit for actual official drivers.
