Downloaded a few movies put them onto a USB stick to play on my TV, make LG42LN54 but they don’t fill the TV screen long and narrow. Tried allsorts to make bigger but unable to. Any suggestions.

what format did you download? Its best to download 720p or 1080p movies as they are 16:9 aspect ratio. However, you can also verify your tv settings for the aspect ratio as well.

Most movies that are made for the cinema are wider than a widescreen TV, so you will get a letterbox effect.
You could try the ratio button or any zoom controls you have.
You may be able to fill the screen but you either miss out on some of the side bits or you make the people tall and skinny!

Yeah quite a few movies are’t exactly 1280×720 so some movies that are 720p will actually be 1280×536 or somethin. For example look at The Hobbit 720p it will always have the letterbox effect.
Only thing i can suggest is mess around with the TV screen settings and use one that’ll suit you.

I don’t know about TV, but some media players on PC have an option that allows you to override aspect ratio, thus filling the whole screen when configured correctly to match the resolution of a monitor or, in your case, a TV. Maybe there’s a similar thing in your TV settings?
