Ok so I received a late 2006 Macbook (Core Duo) with a busted hard drive from an auction. I just bought a new hard drive and it’s ready to have an OS installed on it. The problem is I know next to nothing about Macs, never had one. Browsing around google I think it’s supposed to have OS X 10.4.8 on it, but I’m not sure. I don’t have any cds or dvds to go with it. What’s my next step? I have no idea what version I should burn to a cd/dvd and get started. I can glady provide any further information you guys may need.

I called Apple the guy on the phone said I could use any version 10.4.8 and above. Thing is every document/forum/googe search I’ve found online said I had to use the original install discs that came with it. So confused now, lol…..

theoreticaly you should be able to download a retail OS X install from here, burn it to dvd, insert the dvd and install
