Losing internet connection
August 8th, 2016
for about almost a week my inet connection is acting very weird.
If i start the laptop it worked allright, at first, but now it gives up right away.
Back to the beginning, after about 10-30min my laptop lost the inet connection and then i tried to unplug the routers power cable. It did not help. So I left the router on and unplugged the phone cable, after I plugged it back in it worked again. After 2-3 days this method was useless too, from then on I had to restart my laptop every time. Now that just helps sometimes, it is very frustrating. When I open a site in firefox or IE it takes for ever to load or i get an error-message. Even the MS-messenger works just half of the time. If I look for the problem with MSN, it sometimes tells me it is a DNS related prolbem, but everytime it finds a problem with the Main Ports.
The next thing i tried was, that I deactivated Zone Alarm. After that it worked a bit better, the websites take for ever to load and sometimes I still geat the error-message.
I really need some help, especially since I just hacked my Wii and need some games to play
I hope someone can help and give me some usefull advice.
If there are any questions or additional info you need, feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Oh yeah, before I forgett, I have a Netgear Router (modelnumber: DG834G)
Edit: Another thing, my Mom’s laptop is on the same router and it works fine. The cool thing is, I can reach the -site, but I can’t reach Google
what does the “ping” command reveal ? are you online or completely offline ?
does your waln network register any traffic ?
what happens when you connect via a cable ?
Hmmm, maybe spyware/virus? If your mums laptop works fine on the router but your’s doesnt, its more than likely a problem with the laptop but not nessessarily. Try a spyware/virus scan and see if it makes any difference…

i am online and it says i’m connected to the internet.
Yes there is traffic and it stays the same if I connect via cable.
@master
i tried several scans with superantispyware, avg pro, avg spyware and spybot.
I had a trojan some days ago, removed it, but that didn’t change anything
Thanks for your fast answers[/img]
Oh, right ….. upon pingin 192.168.0.1 you do not get a reply, in this case … you simply do not have a connection to the router.
Try checking if you allocate your IP via DHCP and try to check wether your router allows the connection from your network card
– that’s usually within the firewall settings of your router , check under LAN id DHCP is activated and if some MAC ID’s are restricted , might be a reason
– otherwise dpecificly check on your network card for DHCP enabled ( if your router has DHCP enabed )
the last 2 packets received a reply from your router, but extremely slow one :
disable your wlan adapter and hoock the laptop up with a cable => same old story for pingin the router and some website ( www.google.com ) , and vice versa
this will tell you 1.) active conn to the router
2.) active internet connectivity
any problem, simply reply
are u using eset nod?its problem in my pc.

What do you think… Seriously, I respect you took the time replying, but this sure ain’t usefull for him…
Ontopic: Follow eric’s advice. He’s running a nice trial & error scheme with you. Sorry about even replying.
i found today tha my nod antivirus is disocnnecting my pc from my router, its just a advice,i dont force none ti read my posts
thx erik, i will try that with the router. If I think back I remember that my mom tried out the mac-address block some time ago, but she turned it off again. back then when I opened firefox it acted the same, just back then the only page I could visit was google and the only page I can visit is Ware-bb (lucky me). I will check those settings again. Regarding DHCP, it is activated on the router, but i dont have it activated on my laptop because she also activated the ip-block some time ago too.. So the IP-adress the router assigns me is blocked. So I changed it to one that works.
Oh yeah before I forgett, the two timeouts in the ping cmd are because I had to let it thru zone alarm first…
