December 17th, 2013

hey there , i just got a LCD screen a direction L171 , just under 20″ in size.
basically the same size as my old CRT just a little bigger.
problem is i cant seem to get the screen size correct, i had good size fonts but now i have to use 1024×1024 with large fonts and still its not right, other res’s seem too strectched. any help? i have the nvedia control panel also. is there any auto config programs etc that show you each res and options?

Answer #1
1280 x 1024 should be best for a 19″ monitor.

With an LCD, its always best to run in the “native” resolution. That way you get one pixel per scan line.

Answer #4
It’s a 17″ monitor, and you need 1280×1024.
IBM/Lenovo L171 17″ LCD Monitor – 1280×1024, 8ms, 500:1 Native, VGA
Answer #5
Yes, you want to run your monitor in it’s native resolution.
In Win 7 – Go to > Control Panel \ Display \ Screen Resolution
In the “resolution” field select the choice that will state: (recommended) which is most likely the highest.
While your in that window click “Advanced Settings” and then the “Monitor” tab from the pop-up window.
Make sure that the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” is checked and then select the highest refresh rate available.
In the “Colors” field select True Color (32 bit) click “Apply” then “OK”
If the native resolution seems to make the screen objects to small; select “make text and other items larger or smaller”
Try choosing “Medium – 125%” and click “Apply”
Answer #6
install the latest drivers for your “nvedia” (nvidia) card
that might reset the res to the correct one for you
