Keyboard advice
January 23rd, 2020
I don’t really wanna shell out too much money on a mechanical keyboard just yet. I am a college student about to graduate in a year, so when I get a stable job I would buy the keyboard of my dreams, but for now I want a mechanical keyboard which is between 20-30 bucks, I know its a lot to ask, BUT…
I found a couple of old-school Dell and IBM keyboard on ebay for very reasonable prices (yes I am taking into account the shipping cost also). I want to know is it advised going for these, I know a seller who will give a genuine product. My only question is what can I expect like, will the keyboard only last for less time, is getting a PS/2 to USB converter harder than I think? Are some keys not really expected to work at all?
Most of the articles I read say that getting a good PS/2 to USB converter is tough, but geekhack.com, is giving me tons of good info. I just need a second option on info I might have missed before I buy this.
Thanks \m/

make sure to check shipping…
you can get a good quality keyboard really cheap at a pawn shop, you’ll have to keep the whiskey off of it if you want it to last though
PS2 to USB converters you can get for $1 on eBay..
Should not cause a problem, there is very little electronics involved.

It’s possible though that older keyboards, that draw more power etc, may be better with a full adapter as shown here..
