IPhone 4 Questions.

October 21st, 2013

So I’m new to the iPhone world. I have a iPhone 4 threw Verzion running 4.2.8. I have Jail broke it and have been very happy up till last night. MiWi is acting up and I’d like to remove it and try PDA.net. I have been reading a bit and I’m a little confused. I also would like to back it up in case I accidentally upgrade it so i could revert it back to a jail breakable version. I assume I need I tunes to back it up and Im down loading it now and will be installing it a a windows 7 machine shortly. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Use iFaith to backup the current SHSH if it’s not found in TinyUmbrella and use it to create a signed IPSW. You can’t install any firmware except the latest without SHSH blobs.

Thanks for the quick reply,, And thats good to know. I hate to have to do a tethered jailbreak. Do you think it be a waist of time to do a factory reset and the save my SHSH?
Answer #3
You only have a “window” of time to get SHSH files.. You can only grab the latest one on your fw.
Answer #4
I’m still a little confused. So I might not be able to back my phone up. The latest version installed is 4.2.8. and yes I never saved my SHSH files. Wish I did more research when I bought it.
Edit
So after some reading I now understand what a SHSH is. I have never upgraded the FM since I got it and It been jailbroken for about 2 month and I never use I tunes. So back to what if I just do a factory restore, or is it to late?
OK edit again.
So from what I gathering I’m stuck with 4.2.8 or have to upgrade to the latest version?
Answer #5
You can backup the current F/W’s SHSH via iFaith. You can only restore to the current firmware (if you have SHSH) or to the latest version.
Answer #6
OK OK,, Now I Understand if I restore with out a old SHSH it will restore to the latest version! Right?
Googling iFaith now
Thanks for your help!
Answer #7
You can restore to any FW via custom FW that you have the SHSH file to..
