IPad 3 for college?

July 23rd, 2013

I was thinking about purchasing an iPad 3 as I am moving forth to college.

Any college students using iPads for classroom lectures? if so, I would like to hear some pros and cons.
Thanks!

A joke, in a nutshell.
Can’t print, Can’t type, have to use propitiatory software to take notes.
Can’t run any software that might be needed in class.
If you want a glowing web browser during class, its great. when it comes time to actual do work your going to need a computer. Apple or PC, but a real computer.

Unless you enjoy wasting money.
If you really want a good tablet, get this a Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I’ve got the Prime and I don’t find it any better for note taking. Sure the keyboard makes life a lot easier but as phirewire said, a tablet isn’t making life easier compared to a PC or MAC for note taking.
However, the tablet is definitely the best bit of kit I’ve owned for a long time. I do make important notes on it if I really have to and it’s easy for file management. Always stream and download stuff so it is bags of fun. Despite how amazing the new iPad could possibly be, I would definitely recommend the Prime over the iPad, purely due to the fact it offers a lot more as a user.
Even though I did have to buy another laptop as you cannot expect it to be a direct replacement, because it isn’t. The stupid software it comes with for documenting is awkward and not very familiar to the standard we are all probably used to by now.

I’d say a netbook would be your best bet.
It’s the perfect compromise between portability & usability.
Answer #5
if you want a tablet my vote goes to transformer prime too
but imo a laptop is what you need

Thanks for all the responses.
I think I’m going to invest in a new laptop.
