INTEL VS AMD and little on Quad cores vs dual

Will there ever be games that strictly will only work on quad core processors? If not I will stick to dual cores or triple cores.

No clue if they’ll ever force Quad Core, but I think it’ll be standard in no time anyway. With Quad Core you just have more cores to sort work out on. So it usually runs a lot smoother with less spikes.
As for Intel and AMD goes. I’ve used both. Been happy with both, but I think Intel is the most stable, so I would go with that.

I can’t give you a hardware reason, just my experience with cores used by friends, where one had an AMD correspondant to an Intel, and the AMD just had more problems.. Also.. Note the “I think”

I prefer amd, but i gotta admit, the i7 is the best of the best, but too expensive for you
dual cores are good, if you go for a dual core then go for the Phenom II X2 at only $100 plus ive heard that you can easily achieve 3.8Ghz to 3.9Ghz on air and the two extra cores can be unlocked easily although if you want to overclock with the 4 cores, you might want to get an aftermarket heat sink and fan

I’ll never use anything extreme enough to take full advantage of an i7. I can’t decide between an E8400 or a QXXXX. I heard that a Phenom 720 X3 can overclock to 4.05-4.5 on a stock fan, i may have misread it. I plan on building one in an Antec 900 case to avoid purchasing spare fans. core2quad is actually 2 x core2duo cpus combined whit cash memory (that they stolen)! Now if u ask me, i would purchase AMD X3, new technology, whit 3 CPUs that work simultaneously… Whit enormous L2 cash… and of curse only DDR3

It has an unlocked multiplier so its more flexible.

AMDs are not nearly as OC friendly as the E8xxx series are.. And you’ve got to remember the mobo’s with the feature to unlock the other cores are limited, and a lot of those cores were locked for a reason (unstable). IMO never get an AMD counting on the unlockable cores, it is a plus but hardly a sure thing.

AMD Does not suck. I use both if you’re more on a budget for a gamepc go AMD .. if you have more money go Intel.. make sure you get a very good Motherboard You might want to upgrade your CPU down the road so make sure you get a good brand..

Well you can go that way and hope AMD will last to make the market more competitive, so you can get a good processor for a lower price. As in a consumer’s standard computer, there isn’t much semiconductor manufacturers that can make a processor as fast as Intel, AMD or IBM.
There are little ones, VIA for instance.
Note: IBM doesn’t sell to average consumers and their processors are server orientated or game consoles. So its like if AMD goes down, expect to pay about twice as much for the same product.

What do you think about this? How can I improve this to fit under the 750 mark? I already have an optical drive/floppy drive so ill cross that off the list.

Go down to the antec 300. Get the E7400 (will OC nearly the same). ZipZoomFly has Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 1GB GDDR3 PCE Express Video Card $90AR.
Choose a more budget OCer Mobo.

What Mobo do you recommend?
ATI cards don’t run as well in Crysis and don’t overclock that well either and aren’t good in Crossfire compared to SLI. Mhmm, are there a lot of spots to mount fans in the Antec 300?

but if you know a bit about a PC go with AMD i personally believe that amd is better bang for your buck
everybody thinks the i7 is the best there is but they have yet to figure out i can buy a 3.2 ghz quad amd and over clock it tp 6ghz with water for under $200 while you spend $900 for a 2.66 quad core i7 and it is compareable im not saying that my setup will always win against yours but its very comparable and i saved $700 to build the rest of my PC with
