Installing Windows XP to HP dv7 2080eo laptop :(

August 1st, 2016

My friend brought me this HP Pavilion dv7 2080eo and I promised to get rid of VISTA and install WinXP to it.
But I never realized how different it is compared to those desktops I’ve used to.
I made the Vista recovery DVD’s. After that I tried to install XP but the installation program halts to this error: 0x0000007b , 0xf78d2524 , 0x00000034 , 0x00000000, 0x00000000
Did some checking with Google and understood it can be the SATA driver issue (not sure, though). But still didn’t manage to fix it. There’s no AHCI option in the BIOS menu and the slipstreamed XP disc I made (with a driver) didn’t work.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could assist me. If someone who have installed XP to this particular laptop sees this, can you tell me:
– Where did you get the proper driver and how did you install XP
– Where did you get all the device drivers for this laptop, after installing XP
Thank you very much in advance. I hope someone is able to help me as I’m losing my nerves, haven’t really used laptops much before this.

If you want the official drivers for your system, look under the XP section, here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=sg&product=3927531&lang=en&
They only have one driver listed in the XP section
So even if you could get XP to install, I don’t think most of your device hardware will work because no drivers. You’ll need the drivers that will run your graphics card, wifi device, ethernet controllers, etc…I tried to look for other drivers for your HP dv7 that’s compatible with XP, but no luck–sorry bro. Maybe someone else have a better answer for you. Good luck on your search.

I tried to make that friggin XP install disc with the SATA driver a few times, it just don’t work.
Damn… if I can’t get this to work in a couple of days I’ll just return it to him and let him worry about it all by himself
