do I need a vpn and so on, if so could you recommend any, with all the new laws and so on I don’t want to get caught out…

Dont need nothing.. Just dont use torrents..
I agree with ..I been downloading since existed..Never had any problems..
I also agree that torrent can get you in trouble..
We only allow filehosts in here..Some filehost ban some countries..
And this the only reason you might have to use a VPN/Proxy..But even then we don’t allow those filehosts..

in some countries it could be possible that internet providers MAY monitor internet traffic and COULD send out threatening letters about accessing known copyright protection breaking files. certain movies and tv series releases often have filenames known to copyright protection authorities and those filenames could potentially be forwarded to ISPs in order for them to check filenames being accessed. ISPs dont really want to have to do this because of the resources it requires to do so but local laws might mean that they are legally obliged to do so. that is a danger which only you can know or find out about. one work around is https file hosts which encrypt traffic and prevent ISPs from knowing what you are downloading. therefore it might be worth you using one of those or at least knowing what your local laws are setup to make necessary with regard to ISPs.
ISPs don’t give a toss..They are there to make money not to monitor their customers..
Your ISP only act if they receive a complaint..

Unless you’re uploading silly amounts of data, you’ve got nothing to worry about.
*I will say though, torrents are bad, if you’re using them, use them with something like real-debrid. NOT from your home connection.
Real-debrid and suchlike sites are very handy as they will give you unrestricted downloads from many file hosts as well as torrents..
