I opened up firefox this morning and there was a rogue popup

August 5th, 2016

So I woke up, turned on my xbox and all that, and of course firefox auto-restores my session and I get a pop up. Something about “FINDING DANGEROUS SOFTWARE” on my computer.
And then oh, god. I realize it’s a rogue anti-virus. I close firefox, and of course open it back up, and it restores my session automatically. I calmly press ctrl + alt + delete (the most magic buttons of all time) and kill the firefox process.
Is there anything I can do to stop the rogue from popping up without opening up firefox? thanks. PLEASE REPLY ASAP

The program isn’t installed on the system its self.
Answer #3
Just close the window and ignore it if you’ve not installed anything you’re fine.
Answer #4
Do a complete scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware and let the programs knock out anything they find

Firefox? Anyway, I won’t go there. Do you have any toolbars installed? What was the last thing you installed before you noticed this occurring?

Answer #6
It’s probably just some rogue website which you got into by accident, and the page is restored by FF, since it was there in your previous session.
As long as you didn’t let it install anything you should be OK.
If you exit FF WITHOUT saving your session it will probably go away, but it might help to clear history cache and cookies as well.
