HTC Touch Hd ,where do the updates go ?

HTC Touch Hd ,where do the updates go ?,i have downloaded them from the site ,put them onto my phone but when i go to look for them they cannot be seen ,is there somewhere special i have to put them or is there another method. thanx

Its a great site but is so big i used search function but still cannot pinpoint the thread ,anybody found it before.
